PAOM clothing line.

I‘ve been busy working on my Print All Over Me clothing line. It’s always been a dream of mine to have my own merchandise and clothing line. Through screen printing I’ll be doing my own T-shirt line that is affordable and good quality, but I’ve wanted to do a special edition fashion line for a while. PAOM is a great service that allows me to do just that. I’ve put a lot of thought into my designs and made them using a Japanese influence.

Each bubble is filled with either Japanese or English commonly spoken words. Being fluent in Japanese means that I can create designs that really mean something, rather than using  Japanese script as just a cool design that might say something rude or stupid.

I’ve done a whole new line on PAOM. My personal favourite is this hoodie and cap.

New illustration & Print

I‘ve worked on some new work recently using typography and illustration to make something with a positive message. Since being back in the UK I have seen a lot of positive body image campaigns and social media. It’s very important to be more body positive and realising that every shape is special and there is no “perfect body” to aspire to.

After a fun time at All the Nudes life drawing in Glasgow, I used the female figure to make the following illustrations mixing in my own typography.

One of the prints are also available here: Society 6 Prints!

Christmas is lovely in London

I had the opportunity to visit London last week at possibly one of the best times of the year. Carnaby street was looking beautiful with it’s disco ball style decorations and all of London seemed to be dressed up for Christmas nights out.

I’ve also been taking part in Vlogmas on youtube, where I upload videos of everyday leading up to Christmas. It’s particularly hard when some days I don’t  really do anything interesting. I’ll post two of the interesting days that I’ve had down here. It’s so beautiful in London during Christmas.

I also had the opportunity to visit the store; “We built this city” in Carnaby Street which was wonderful. So many designer things that are specially made for the store. The prints were amazing. I’m sure I will be back to get some in the future.

I had such a fun time looking at the graffiti in Shoreditch and seeing all the “hipster” restaurants and food markets. It was just a wonderful time in London town. I hope I can be back soon.

Screenprinting is amazing!

Since I’ve been back in the UK, I’ve been catching up with things I haven’t been able to do in Japan. Screenprinting was one of them.

I worked out some designs and found a studio where I could learn the process. I was hooked.

I worked on a pretty detailed design for a first try. But it worked out nicely.

This was my work in progress.

It turned out rather well for a first try.

I’m looking forward to making some more merchandise and different designs. Screen printing is fun!

I’m really glad that I have the opportunity to try different creative things and there are so many places that you can learn new skills at.

Rotoscoping at GDFS, Studio Moross workshop

At the Graphic Design Festival Scotland, I took part in the Studio Moross workshop and tried my hand at Rotoscope animation.

I love animating and working on moving image projects as it is so very therapeutic. Rotoscoping in Photoshop is calming, fun and interesting for me. I’ve been hooked since the workshop.

We had such a great time working on 3 second animations that we filmed in the room and used as a format to create our own style. My partner had lovely hair which I loved animating.

In the space of 2 or 3 hours we came up with our own individual animation.

The next day at the workshop we worked on creating a music video that we would each individually animate. We used “Hotline Bling” by Drake, which had been cut into 20 or so separate pieces to animate.

We had such a great time animating our sections and collaborating with the people next to us. The full video unfortunately couldn’t be uploaded but I’ve managed to put my section online.

I used Drakes jumper to create an animate wool style when he dances. I had so much fun creating this animation. The workshop was fantastic, Studio Moross gave us so much insight into the process that they use to create their work and were very lovely people.

I’ve been hooked on Rotoscope ever since and I’m looking forward to creating some more mini animations.

I even did a short one of my favourite film scenes.

Looking forward to using this technique in the future to make some fun work.

Trip to the Robot Restaurant.

Although I am now half way around the world and in the UK again…I still have a lot of backed up video footage to go through and upload on my youtube page. This is what happens when you are working from home and getting used to it all again.

One of my most favourite places in Japan to take friends when they visited was the Robot Restaurant. An Amazing restaurant, that really isn’t much of a restaurant. It’s more like a show where you can drink and eat and watch the craziness.

Instead of telling you about it, it would be best to watch it. I’ve compiled some of my favourite parts of the show into a short video on my channel.

If you are ever in Shinjuku, try the Robot Restaurant!

Graphic Design Festival Scotland – STV Creative workshop

Last week I took part in the Graphic Design Festival Scotland. It was an amazing week, full of challenging workshops and a great set of events to support. I had such an amazing time and I made so many amazing connections and new friends. I highly recommend attending next year. Beth and James from Warriors Studio in Glasgow did a fantastic job.

For our first workshop, we worked with STV Creative to create a Tv Commercial from a product that we created and pitched in the morning. We had three hours to create our commercial and although we had plenty of challenges, we managed to do very well.

We created a commercial for the product “Hellmet” a fashion/Safety Helmet for the fashion conscious rider.

You can find the commercial and the other projects on the website :

I worked as the producer/director and video editor on this. It was super fun. Thank you STV Creative!

Nakamura Keith Haring Collection Video.

The Nakamura Keith Haring Collection was a pretty amazing place to visit whilst I was in Japan. The staff were friendly and helpful and the art was bright, fun and in your face. My kind of exhibition. I posted previously about the museum, but as I had more video footage than pictures, I made a video of our experience at the museum.

The museum can be found in Yamanashi, very out of the way in a village full of arty things. I guess for the traveler who has came to see Japan, it might be hard to get to. We had a car so there was not such a problem.

The museum information can be found here : Nakamura Keith Haring Collection

It is the worlds only permanent collection of Keith Haring’s work. A Very special place for fans or art lovers. I would even suggest this to those that aren’t bit art fans.

Check it out anyway!

Keith Haring museum Yamanashi, Japan

Final three days in Japan! Time goes so fast. I’m starting to panick that I have left something til last minute.. Or that my paperwork is wrong. It feels so strange to say goodbye to somewhere that has been my home for eight years.

With preparing to move and sorting out work stuff I haven’t had much time to have fun. I did manage to sneak away to Yamanashi to the Keith Haring museum.

The one place I was desperate to go to! Horrah! It was everything I could have dreamed of and more. I’ll be making a video post about it later. The pictures don’t do it justice!

Silly pictures were a must!

Playing with the museums toys were a given.

I was in my element. It was great to see such wonderful work. I’d highly recommend it. The store is superb also. Not to be missed!

Kawaii Monster Cafe Harajuku

The Kawaii Monster Cafe in Harajuku opened up on August 1st this year and in the knick of time. I had the opportunity to visit the cafe this month and I was really impressed by the detail in the interior and the way that the cafe is designed.

The design was created by Sebastian Masuda, who is a famous cute producer and seems to have his hands in everything recently. Anything “Kawaii” and he’s probably had something to do with it.

Bright colours, rainbow pasta, “drug cocktails”, Rainbow cake..done deal. The cafe was a joy to visit and I could have stayed in there for hours on end. Even the toilet was multicoloured bright fun.

I highly recommend visiting the cafe.

I managed to make a short video on our trip to the cafe. The staff were dressed up and we also had our own monster girl to help us with our orders.

The menu was an iPad surrounded in a cake case. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back to visit next time I get the chance to go to Tokyo.
